Mega Man and his allies, Zero and Axl, team up and head to the moon in a mission to defeat the enemy and save mankind. As any one of these three characters, you must successfully jump, attack, and use new weapons to gain access to new areas. Each area contains different challenges that help you build and acquire skills. Fight your way through 12 stages, with settings ranging from space stations to lunar colonies, and then replay the levels to discover new subquests.

- This glitch is intended to give you the max number of metals in the game in just one pause during gameplay. First you need to have a life tank and make sure its not completely full, recommended half full. Second you need to have less than 50 metals. Go to the the R&D development room and get a life charge for the life tank which costs 50 metals to obtain, the game will glitch out and your metal counter will disappear from screen. go to any level and go find a single metal anywhere on the level, the metal counter will increase insanely. Now press start to pause and bring up the player menu screen, your counter will read 9999999, the maximum number of metals possible in the game!
Unlockable How to Unlock Alia Beat the game using Alia as your navigator more ofter than the other two. Layer Beat the game using Layer as your navigator more ofter than the other two. Palette Beat the game using Palette as your navigator more ofter than the other two. Unlockable How to Unlock Axl's White Armor Beat the game and have 100% of Axl's metals puchased and defeat the final boss using Axl with a double attack. X's Ultimate Armor Beat the game and have 100% of X's metals puchased, as well as all 8 armor pieces. Zero's Black Armor Beat the game and have 100% of Zero's metals puchased. - Simply complete the game and then load your clear file. The Sigma-Blade will now be available for purchase in the R&D Lab.
- Equip the K Knuckle on Zero and jump up and press Triangle.
- You can do a shoryuken with X (in his ultimate armor).Hold Up and press triangle.This move appeared in Megaman X2 as an ultimate move (like the Hadoken in Megaman X1). It's not powerful at all, but a fun easter egg.
- If you have a Megaman X: Command Mission save on the same memory card that you are saving on in X8, you can battle Cutman at the end of Optic Sunflower's stage.
